What is pet insurance?
Pet insurance is a form of insurance that can help to cover the cost of vet treatments for illness or injury. Pets can get into all sorts of scrapes and suffer from sudden illnesses, causing vet bills to quickly add up. Our pet insurance can help make these costs more manageable, covering your pet in the event of accidents, illnesses, thefts or straying.
What does pet insurance cover?
Sainsbury’s Pet insurance can cover vet bills up to £10,000 and death from an accident or illness up to £2,000, depending on which policy you choose. Our policies cover your pet for overseas vet fees, quarantine costs and more while you’re away. We can also help provide the means to get your missing pets back safely if they’re stolen or stray.
In addition, have a dedicated 24/7 Vet Assistance helpline, to offer expert support when you need it most.

What isn’t covered by Sainsbury’s Pet insurance?
That’s a lot of cover for your companion, but there are exceptions, such as:

† Multi-pet discount is a minimum of £24 when insuring more than one pet as this is worked out at £1 per pet per month for each pet on a policy. Pets can have different cover levels. Discount deducted separately from any other offer.
◊ This only applies to customers switching to Sainsbury’s Pet insurance from another provider. You must have continuous cover with no gaps between your existing policy and new policy starting. If you do need to make a claim within the initial exclusion period, you will have to provide evidence of your previous policy. We will not cover any pre-existing medical conditions or anything you have already claimed for with your previous insurers.

2) 7,000 points will be added to your Nectar account within 60 days of your policy start date, unless your policy is cancelled during this period.

You will be required to enter your name and postal address on their website so they can dispatch the hamper(s).
